Senior Acoustic Consultant

Graduated with BSc First Class Honours in 1992 and awarded Ph.D. in Building Acoustics from Heriot-Watt University in 1997. Invited researcher at the Italian (IENGF) and German (PTB) government acoustic research laboratories in 1998 and 1999.

He has gained expertise in sound insulation in housing including projects funded from the Scottish Executive, SBSA, Historic Scotland, Defra and Communities Scotland. He was a joint Project Manager of the HBF Robust Standards Details Project and is a co-author of “Housing and Sound Insulation” published by Arcamedia. Sean is a registered tester of Part E under the Association of Noise Consultants approved scheme and serves on both Building Acoustics Group and Scottish Branches of the Institute of Acoustics. He serves as external technical advisor for Robust Details Ltd (RDL), is a member of the RDL Standards Committee and is an RDL Inspector and RC UK Academic Fellow.

Sean currently serves on the Scottish Construction Industry Low Carbon Steering Group and the BRE Scotland Innovation Park delivery team. He is also depute director of the Building Performance Centre and in January 2008 was awarded the professorship in Construction Innovation at Edinburgh Napier University.
