Dr Roderick Mackenzie
BSc (Hons), PG Dip, PhD, AMIOA

Senior Research Fellow

Roderick graduated with BSc (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh in 2003 and gained the IOA postgraduate Diploma in 2005. In 2009 he graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a Ph.D. in Acoustics and Timber Engineering. As a Senior Research Fellow at Edinburgh Napier’s Building Performance Centre, he has worked on the successful development of several acoustic isolation products.

He has represented both the Partnership and the BPC whilst lecturing to the New Zealand Acoustical Society and associated universities on the Robust Details™, and presented his research at the Royal Society Summer Exhibition 2007.

Although he has conducted many environmental and residential sound insulation investigations, Roderick now specialises in non-destructive material analysis, R&D of acoustic insulation products and low-frequency vibration issues. In January 2009, he was appointed as a Knowledge Transfer Associate within the acoustic products industry, and continues to conduct consultancy for the company on a part-time basis. Roddy is an ANC registered tester and a BINDT registered air tightness tester.
